Thank you for your interest in The Friendship School (TFS)!
The Friendship School is growing! Currently a grades PK-K magnet school, TFS will add grade 1 beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Over the next two school years, TFS will grow to a grades PK-2 school!
The application period for the 2026-2027 school year begins January 1, 2026!
To apply, students must be a resident of Connecticut and at least three or four years old on or before September 1, 2026. Students who are five years old on or before September 1, 2026 will be eligible for kindergarten.
There is an application process and lottery system for acceptance into TFS. All students applying must submit an application. Students are accepted using a computer-based online lottery system.
Beginning in September of 2017, there is a tuition charge to families of pre-kindergarten children from all communities. This charge is the result of a change in the laws that govern magnet schools. LEARN is now required by the State of Connecticut to charge families based on income and family size. A family's cost will not be more than $405.30 per month per child from September 1 to June 30.
Southeastern Connecticut Magnet Schools are committed to serving military families and their children. TFS is dedicated to helping highly mobile families who transfer to the region following the regular application period.
