Welcome from Director Kathy Suprin
(from Opening Day Ceremonies)
The
Friendship school: first an idea born of collaboration, then a
project for many years existing only on paper, and finally this
beautiful, state-of-the-art building. After today it will
be a beautiful building with its talented staff, sitting here among
us, and as of next Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., when the children arrive,
it will at long last be a school. The Friendship School, referred
to in Spanish as el Jardín de la Amistad, which means the garden
of friendship, is a school fittingly named for its mission: friendly
relations between towns, teaming among staff and families for their
children, and a fertile ground in which a diverse group of children
will learn and grow. For all of the work that has lead to
this moment and to the hundreds of people who have completed that
work, the staff of TFS would like to say thank you and you’re
welcome. Thank you for bringing the dream of a Friendship
School to reality and you are welcome in the welcoming sense, to
visit us any time to see for yourself how a successful interdistrict
early childhood magnet school functions. We are ready to
go on an exciting adventure together. Welcome to the garden
of friendship, el Jardín de la Amistad, The Friendship School.
