Message from the Principal

Welcome to The Friendship School’s web page!  I hope that the information you find here gives you a good sense of what we value for our children and their families which is expressed so well in our Mission.  In short, we value:  family involvement, cultural diversity, school readiness and inclusion.

It is such a joy to spend each day here, watching 3, 4 and 5 year-olds develop and learn.  The children start out learning the most important things:  how to get along with others, how to take turns and share and how to express their feelings and play with others.  During their pre-k year or years our teachers also focus on helping the children develop their cognitive, physical and artistic/creative skills.  By the time the children reach kindergarten they are ready to learn the more traditional things usually associated with school such as reading, but we continue to develop the whole child and we continue to focus on relationships.  Children with special needs receive the services they need in an inclusive environment, remaining with their peers and receiving the same curriculum with the support that they need in order to be successful.  Second language acquisition is emphasized as some of our youngsters learn English and others learn Spanish in our Dual Language classroom.

Our Friendship School Family Organization (FFO) plans activities for families to enjoy, such as winter carnivals and movie nights.  Their tireless volunteers conduct fundraisers to support the children, families and staff.

I invite you to learn about The Friendship School here on our website and then to call to schedule a visit with your child to see for yourself both the building that we are so fortunate to have, our enthusiastic and talented staff and the beautiful little people who come here every day to play and learn.  I look forward to meeting you and your child.
