The Friendship School has opened its brand new upper playground, much to the delight of hundreds of students who have a new place to explore and imagine.

On Friday, Oct. 6, Principal Andrea Simmons and LEARN Executive Director Dr. Eileen Howley officially cut the ribbon on the playscape. Students and teachers from throughout the school surrounded the new play area during a short, sunny ceremony.

Childscapes Playgrounds built the upper playground to be accessible to students of all abilities. It features a large new primary playscape, complete with slides, climbers, and other equipment, as well as a canopy covering much of the structure. The area also features a new sandbox, balance beams, and much more, all on a safe, rubberized flooring designed to cushion falls and leave knees unskinned.

In addition to the new structure, the school updated the lower playground with rubberized flooring. Now both playscapes offer safe and fun spaces for recesses.
